Okay,…here’s the deal. I’ve been hearing a lot…and I mean A LOT of talk about a recent book “Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man” written by radio talk show host and comedian Steve Harvey. I’ve heard all kinds of opinions and thoughts about the book and it has spawned many in depth conversations regarding dating and relationships. Being the knowledge seeker I am, I found it hard for me to not want to be involved in these great conversations, so I’m finally going to take the time to review the book myself. Unlike most adults, I don’t sit down and read a book in one or two sittings. Hell, I might not even get done in the same month sometimes. It’s not that I don’t want to commit myself to sitting down and knocking it out, I just read thoroughly (aka: slowly….LOL!). But hey, I’m an engineer and the things I normally read have to be fully digested, therefore I find myself reading lines twice and sometimes three times. All that aside, I’m going to take time to read through the book with some thought being put into what is being said and how I perceive it. Notice I said “how I perceive it”. Now, who am I you might ask. I’m a 31 yr old African-American male, one 10 yr old son, divorced (happily, yeah me and my ex are still cool), college educated with enough life experiences to write a series of novels myself. Raised by a single parent mom (super woman!), with my dad right down the street and he was there when he needed to be. I’m still not your typical guy walking around, but I’m not too far off either. But since I can’t change who I am, ya just got to deal with the fact that everyone is different and will have different views of everything in life. But here goes mine on the book “Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man”. Ya’ll let me know what you think along the way and please don’t bite your tongue, I sure as hell won’t be.
